Sergi Puigpinós Palau

Linux is an OS (Operating system) that is free to download and open source, open source means that is free to take the the code and do whatever you want with it.
It was released on 5 October 1991 by Linus Torvalds.
First, was intended to by an OS for personal computers but since it has been ported to other hardware platforms it has been extended around all the devices, like our mobile phones, depending on with Companies you bought it, comes with Android, and Android runs Linux.
The creation of Linux was in 1991, Linus Torvalds, while he was attending the University of Helsinki, became curious about operating systems and frustrated by the licensing of MINIX, which at the time limited it to educational use only. He began to work on his own operating system kernel, which eventually became the Linux kernel.

Linus Torvalds wanted to name his invention “Freax” but in the process of developing, Linus uploaded all his files to FTP servers, but then, Ari Lemmke thought that that was a bad name so he decided to rename it to Linux without consulting to Linus.
