About Christmas

About Christmas
Christmas is celebrated around the world in lots of different countries.
Although the Christmas holiday season is typically known for its wintry weather, not all Christmas traditions around the world are one in the same.

-Christmas Market.
It’s popular across central Europe,
It’s a famous market where can buy lots of ornaments and lights about Christmas to decorate old that you want; your house, Christmas tree,…

-Boxing Day.
After the day after Christmas in the country is known as Boxing Day, it's an Australian public holiday. Similar to Black Friday in the United States, on this day, stores put on huge sales and people pour in to get the best deals.

-The Gavle Goat.
A tradition since 1966 in the town of Galve, this festive display is very popular since lots years ago. The 13 meter high and three ton straw-made statue was built to showcase the traditional Swedish Christmas straw goat, which normally is made in sizes small enough to fit on a mantle.

-Christmas Pudding.
Once called Plum Pudding, this British tradition, also popular in Australia, has been served throughout history around the Christmas holiday season. The pudding itself takes hours to cook and then it is usually served still flaming hot or actually flaming

-Letter to Santa.
It’s a well-known tradition around the world, writing letters to Santa Claus has become a new and popular tradition. However it’s origins come from Canada. Santa Claus today has his own postal code and he can be written to in any language, even Braille, and Santa will actually write you back too. Together volunteers from the postal service help respond to all the letters sent to Santa each year.

Christmas time

Christmas holiday is the time to be with family and friends. It’s celebrated all around the world at the same time of the year because it’s the beginning of winter, although there are some religions that don’t celebrate it like: Judaism, Muslim and Buddhism.  They celebrate another type of parties. We the Christians rejoice the birth of Jesus.

To begin with, we do different things like decorating the house with ornaments and putting up a Christmas tree, we sing carols,  we do a typical tradition in Catalonia that is the “caga tió” which consists in giving food to a piece of wood in order to get presents…

On Christmas eve Santa Claus goes to everyone’s house so as to put the present under the tree. The next morning all the families wake up to open the presents, we after go to our families houses to have lunch with the family.

Finally we have the Boxing Day, we also have lunch with the other part of the family to see them and spend time together.

Christmas festivities:

Christmas festivities:

This month, December, is special because there are a lot of festivities and we stay with the family.
We celebrate those festivities because Jesus was born in December 24th, and in all the world we celebrate that with festivities, and the name of this festivity it’s Christmas.
Currently, Christmas has lost its meaning, lots of years ago we celebrated because Jesus was born and it was a Cristian festivity, but nowadays we’ve lost this meaning and we celebrate it only because of the presents and to stay with all the family.

Our conclusion is that we celebrate Christmas not in the right way because we don’t celebrate it like a tradition and we only rejoice it for the presents and now we think that it isn’t a good way to celebrate this important festivity.

Are Real Madrid crap?

This season is very bad for Real Madrid. One of the most important teams of the world, is playing like a children’s team, because in this season the lost 0-4 vs. the Futbol Club Barcelona in Santiago Bernabéu, they couldn’t sign David De Gea because the documents were late.
The biggest crisis of this team was last day vs. Cádiz when Rafa Benítez lined up Cherysev, this player was sanctioned in the game against Barça and when he played in Villareal.

Real Madrid make excuses because they don’t want a sanction, other teams were eliminated from the cup for the same situation.
CHRISTMAS AND CONSUMPTION

The following weeks, we will buy lots of things because it’s Christmas. Although we are in crisis, people consume a lot, children are not aware about the price of everything. They think that the three wise men are magic, so that, parents can’t explain the cost of everything to them.

Parents normally buy everything for their sons but it is not the best thing to do because in the end, they think that everything they ask for is what they will have. However, we have all been children. We also spend money buying food because in this dates, we have family dinners and we waste more food. We also buy typical Christmas food that is more expensive.

My conclusion is that lots of people celebrates Christmas because it is only once a year, but if it was more than once, they wouldn’t celebrate that because it is very expensive.

Nowadays, Christmas has lost the meaning, lots of years ago, everyone celebrated Christmas because a boy called Jesus was born, this meant happiness and giving the others love and being generous. Sadly nowadays we celebrate it because we receive gifts from our relatives and we spend time with all of them but we don’t do something related with religion.

THE HUNGER GAMES

The 21st of November it was released the new film from the saga “The Hunger Games”, Mockingjay Part 2. It has been defined like a phenomenon all over the world, beating records in the ticket windows of a lot of cinemas.
The main reason are the books in which is based the film, written by Suzanne Collins, that are defined for some authors, (like Stephen King), as a work that includes the fantasy of Narnia and the inventiveness of the Mechanical Orange.
Another factor that has influenced the big welcome in a lot of countries are the actors, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth, and of course, the actress Jennifer Lawrence, who plays the role of Katniss, the main character.
This film is about how Katniss leads the rebellion against the Capitol until the end, but how she must do some sacrifices to bring justice to her country. The idea isn’t to glorify war, but to show the damage it can cause, and how we are all affected by it.
I hope you like it!

CAN WE CURE THE OBESITY?
I want talk obesity because it is a topic that has a lot of things to discuss, obesity affect a lot of childrens and teenagers because they have bad habits.

Obesity causes a lot of problems in blood circulation and for cure obesity, they have to change their bad habits, but if they do not change their bad habits, they can get irregularity in the sugar level, the name of this ilness i diabetis.

In general the obesity produces a lot of problems for example the diabetis but you can reduce your weight, the diabetis is for always, we can change the bad habits and we reduce the over weight.
SYRIA

Five years ago the Syrian war started. The war started because a group of rebels didn’t like the government and they started the conflict to kill the president and change the government. In addition, Russia helps the actual government and bombs the rebels, and USA helps the rebels and bombs the government. At the same time, on Friday there was a terrorist attack in Paris, and 130 approximately died.
In our view, both of them have the same importance, but in Spain people are more scared by the terrorist attack in Paris because it is nearer than Syria, although, in Syria there are more dead people than in Paris, but we forget the war in Syria and we only worry about what can happens in our country.

In conclusion, our opinion is that people also have to worry about the problems far from here.

Terrorist attack on Paris

I think that the terrorist assault on 14 of November was one of the worst terrorist assaults in France. It’s incredible that 129 people died in this attack, France declared 3 days of national mourning. Nowadays it’s horrible that these things happen and to believe that some people can do these kinds of acts. On the other hand we can think that in Iran a lot of terrorist assaults happen but there, it’s a routine, contrary to when this happens in Europe it’s a global new. For other part I do not agree with the people that try to persuade other people to do these kinds of things.

PLANE ACCIDENT

This horrible disaster happened last week, 9th October in Egipt. At the moment we don't know its causes. It is probably a terrorist attack, but we don't know for sure because the police have not checked the black boxes.

At 9:13 a.m. the plane crashed on a flat area in Egipt. There were 224 people on the plane, unfortunately all of them are now dead. The smashed plane came from Rusia. The russian government thinks is a terrorist attack and they also accused the seccurity of the plane's company.

We think the reason of all of that is a terrorist attack, but it can be an innocent accident.

Hergé

Today, we are going to write about one of the most important comic artists from the 20th century.
His name is Georges Prosper Remi, but his pen name is Hergé. He was born on 22th May 1907 in Brussels and he died on 3rd March 1983.
He is the comic artist of “The Adventures of Tintin”, “Joe, Zette and Jocko” and Quick & Flupke”. But his most famous creation is the Adventures of Tintin.

In 1929, Hergé developed a character named Tintin as a Belgian reporter boy who could travel around the world with his fox terrier, Snowy "Milou" in the original French, in the French magazine named “Le Petit Vingtième”.

His first comic was “Tintin in the Land of the Soviets”.

SHOWROOMING

Showrooming is a concept that means that you go to a shop, you try on whatever you want and then, you buy it on the internet because is cheaper. Some shops in the UK, tell the customers that for trying on some clothes, they have to pay. This is done to avoid people showrooming. This has started few years ago and it happens because everything on the internet is cheaper, so that, people go to the shop to know their size and then they buy everything on the internet.

                                                             Halloween or "castanyada"

We prefer Halloween because it is funnier than "castanyada"
Most people prefer "castanyada" because it is typical in Catalonia and the persons who are independents think that as "castanyada" and Halloween are on the same day, "castanyada" is better than Halloween.
We like sweet potatoes and coconut buns because it is typical in Catalonia, but in EEUU it is typical to eat apples, candy, pumpkin cake.

ALL HALLOWS EVE= HALLOWEEN

The origin of Halloween is the day after Halloween, is the day of saints and the story says that the 30th day, the dead people go to the city, town or another to scare the people.

SMOKING IN 2015

Nowadays smoking is a huge problem in our society. In the past, smoking was a symbol of a high economic status and people weren´t aware of tobacco damaging effects. Fortunately, the situation has changed and now people are conscious of all the problems related to smoking.
In our opinion, tobacco should be forbidden in any country because it’s bad for our health and it’s addictive. Smoking for a long time can lead to different illnesses such as lung or throat cancer.
Despite all these problems, governments will never forbid tobacco because citizens spend a lot of money and that implies high taxes.
Even though there are smokers who would like to stop smoking they can’t because of the nicotine effect so they keep on smoking and spending a lot of money. One tobacco pack costs almost 5 euros, people smoke more or less one packet every day. So then they waste 1825 euros every year.
In conclusion, smoking doesn´t have any positive effect on people. Also one has to spend a lot of money on it and it causes injuries such as lung and throat cancer.

                                                         Faishon Week

Last week in New York the fashion week started, it was such a big event, and everybody was there,a lot of people few from all around the world just to see the event. The event made a lot of money.
The event started with a Miley Cyrus concert, so everybody had to dress like her. The clothes that you had to wear were a plain pink cotton dress and blue leather boots.
Everybody was very exited to see the fashion show, because a lot of famous people took part. The rest of the days were the same as the first one.
The following week Paris also organised a fashion week, but less exiting than the New York one.

                                          The First Day Of School

On the first day of school, 14th of september, everybody was very nervious, because we wanted to know about the classes and the new teachers.
The classes started at 10:30, so they explained us which subjects we would have.
This year we had a different corridor so we had new teachers.
When the school was over , we were really tired, because we were used to the summer routine.
WATER IN MARS

Nowadays all the people are speaking about that on Mars NASA has found liquid water.

It seems incredible, because the temperatures are so extreme and it is a bad factor for the creation of water in liquid state.

Nasa was searching for this phenomenon for many years, because there were possibilities, but they were very little.

It is an important discovery for all the humans, because now we know that mars it can be an “habitable” planet for the human race, also is a very important discovery because in the project Mars 1, the astronauts can convert the undrinkable water to drinkable and it will make them a simpler life.

But the question is: Is life possible on Mars?

Smart phones in school

Nowadays in all schools mobile phones are not allowed because it is believed that students will use them badly.

Indeed students would use the phone to chat to each other but also they could work easily with it. In fact we could use phones in the same way as we use the computers, so schools would save more money than they do because most of the people, except children, already have a personal smart phone and they can use it to explore in the internet instead of using computers.

If schools do that, they have the risk of teenagers taking photos of their teachers or they could use the phone to copy in the exams.

In conclusion, we could say that for using mobile phones instead of computers, they should look first to the pros and cons of it.
NELSON MANDELA

“It always seems impossible until it’s done - Nelson Mandela

Nelson Mandela was born on the 18th July of 1918 in Mvezo, El Cabo.
He studied law at the University of Fort Hare. He joined to the African National Congress (ANC), an organization that did campaigns against discrimination and exploitation of the black people of South Africa.
He organized manifestations against the system of racial segregation called apartheid but the government of South Africa killed the people that had gone to this manifestations. For this reason, Mandela create an organization called Umkhonto we Siwze.
One year later, Mandela was captured in Johannesburg and submitted him to life sentence when he was 46 years old, but his followers and governments of other countries started requiring his liberty and the abolition of the racial segregation.
In 1990, the president Frederik de Klerk gives freedom to Nelson Mandela, when he was 71 years old. A few months later they negotiate the elimination of the apartheid and in 1991 it was officially eliminated. For this, all of them received the Nobel of Peace award in 1993.
In 1994, Mandela was chosen for the president of South Africa and governed since 1999. In these years, he helped with the reconciliation of the South African people.
In 2012, his health got worse because he had a pulmonary infection. In June of 2013 his health was in critical state and on the 5th of December of 2013 Nelson Mandela died in Johannesburg.

FREEDOM OF CATALONIA

Lately, in the news, the only things we hear are related with the possible freedom of Catalonia.

Every time we switch on the TV, it comes to be the same: a discussion about what is going to happen in the future with Catalonia. There are many opinions from the extremely opposite position of “PP” and “Ciutadans” and the other ones from “Junts pel Sí” and “CUP”. How is that going to affect the citizens of Catalonia?

We are not a hundred per cent sure but we think that the best thing we can do is to show everyone’s opinion. Some of them are totally agree that our life would be better if we weren’t part of Spain. The main reasons are: we wouldn’t pay so much money (that at the end is not always returned) or we could express our language and culture without being judged.

The other opinion about this topic is extremely different. They argue that Catalonia wouldn’t be a part of EU because without Spain, Catalonia means nothing.

Our conclusion is that both sides have to be respected because both opinions have their arguments, however, we are free to choose the opinion that sweats us more.
